Julia's is an incredible neighborhood gem! I've been here several times, and have had such a wonderful experience each time. First I'll talk about the service. The owner is incredibly friendly -- you may see him bring out food or taking your order. Aside from him, I haven't met a single staff member here that isn't super friendly. They really do things right. The menu is extensive, and has plenty of classic breakfast options from sweet to savory. I usually opt for the corned beef hash, but they sometimes have specials like chilaquiles. If you're into classic breakfast dishes, everything is tasty & to the point. This spot is approachable, cozy, and makes you feel at home. Id come every day for breakfast if I could.
Super nice people (Liliana and Victor) with great food. We have enjoyed many breakfast dishes there, including Yum Yum breakfast with french toasts, the Mexican Breakfast (a must try), Vegano Scramble with tofu. And today I tried another new dish, the vegetable skillet and it is yummy! They are also generous to the community with donations to the University District Food Bank. A neighborhood gem.
What a little gem of a place! There are so many delicious options, it was hard to choose. We shared these two plates and still had some leftovers. The food was wonderful, the service was great and we loved our morning spent at Julia's. The only reason I could not give 4 stars was the price tag, I do have to warn you...oof. Was not expecting $9 for diner coffee...real bummer there.
Great breakfast. Excellent selection for vegetarians and meat lovers. Will come back for sure.
Have been to Juilia's a couple times now and have to say it's definitely my favorite breakfast/brunch place thus far. What I like is the straight up entrees, with nothing particularly fancy. Just done well. Breakfast favorites that remind me of the diners I loved back east. On top of this the service is pretty good, and it's pretty spacious despite an expected weekend morning crowd. Both my visits here, we were seated almost immediately. My first visit I had steak and eggs, and it came out surprisingly quick but was good. Eggs were standard, steak was tender. Like most diner-esque places it comes with other side choices such as toast and potatoes. My more recent visit I had the chicken fried steak, which again was good. Tender and the gravy was nice. As much as I love Julias there are some minor snags. In both visits two or three waiter/waitresses come to the table in intervals asking if we'd been helped. In both of these visits we'd already had place drink orders and sometimes food. I'd think they'd communicate with each other who has served what table. Not terrible, but just comes off a bit disorganized. The other is the most recent visit my buddy and I had two cups of coffee each, one was a refill. I assumed they were one free refill. I later checked over my receipt and saw $9. This isn't fancy coffee shop coffee, this is regular ol' joe here, so that caught me off guard. Not a big deal really, that's about $2.25 a cup, but I'd have skipped the 2nd had I known. Those snags aside, I've enjoyed Julias and next time I want a filling breakfast I'll be back.
Food was delicious--scramble was fluffy and salsa was perfect on top! Good sourdough toast and perfect texture. Berry pancakes were very good with blueberry syrup/sauce/jam on top! Very fluffy! Service was amazing and food came out quickly. Both people who helped us were very helpful and pleasant. At 2 on a Friday it was not too busy, but easy to have conversation over the noise.
Few places live up to the hype we hear from other people. Julia's is one of those that does. Excellent food, awesome service, generous portions, reasonable prices. Highly recommended!
I ordered the chilaquiles with no sour cream and they were so fresh and delicious. I usually prefer a green sauce but it was red and I was not complaining. The chips were still crispy and the sauce was flavorful. I definitely want to come back and explore more of the menu! Amazing service and cute little area to walk around in also. Street parking was easy.
Saturday lunch at Julia's of Wallingford. Service is quick but I got the wrong one just to be later compensated by an entire portion of sandwich :) thank you ! I ordered a combo- half turkey sandwich and half soup but was served soup and salad. Since the question is asked- how would you prefer your eggs? We say scrambled and are served omelette, but then why ask just to be reverted "I can replace it for you, but it's all going in the same place." Pretty ambience cozily tucked at the corner of cross roads in the middle of a busy residential neighborhood. The view outside this place was good. Parking can be on the road. Food was decent . Will give a full thumbs up to scrambled eggs with salmon and their tomato basil soup. This place can definitely do better has a lot of potential!
How are these ratings so low?! If I'd seen the reviews, I wouldn't have come, but this place will be a regular spot for me moving forward. Food/drinks: Gluten-free, dairy free blueberry pancakes! Do I really need to say more?! Just in case, I'll add that they have breakfast/brunch options. Bacon was a little salty, fruit plate was pretty but meh. Heard the biscuits and gravy was good (be sure to add extra gravy). Honestly, the pancakes, waffles, and other delicious things that are allergen friendly has sold this for me. Ambiance: Chill neighborhood spot. Plenty of seating. And some nice outdoor spots! Service: Solid. I'm impressed there was one person serving us all on a Sun morning, but he was friendly and really helpful. The pancakes alone would get me to come back. Thank you for changing your recipe; you've got a new regular!
